The End
Published in Trips by Marianne

After an eventful last few days I’m finally back in Sydney. Judith and Patrick will now continue travelling by themselves and drive the car back to Sydney, hopefully in one piece.
I have spend 3 month and more then 21,000km on the road. I have seen some of Australia’s most amazing landscapes and met some of the loveliest and most helpful people.
I simply had the trip of my life. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hope that this will be the last crazy trip I embark on in my life. All I’m saying I had a fabulous time.
A very special thanks goes to my partner Simon. Without him this would have been impossible.

Breakdown
Published in Trips by Marianne
On the way back from Cape Leveque our car ‘Bruce’ had a major breakdown about 100km north of Broome. This was not the first car trouble we had on this journey but it was the worst, so far.
We were stuck on another 90km of sand track with a broken front axle which meant that the car wasn’t driving anywhere anymore. And to make matters worse we were a very very long way from any mobile phone reception.

The only way to get this car back to Broome without doing any further damage was to organize an off-road tow truck. Marianne hitched a ride back to Broome to get this all organised while Judith and Patrick stayed with the car potentially camping one night in the middle of the road in the middle of nowhere. Not exactly what they had in mind when they planned their ‘Australian Adventure’.
By 11pm they where all safely back in Broome and we were all very happy that nobody was harmed. The next day Bruce got half the front axle replaced but is now back to his hold self.

We spend a few relaxing days at Kooljaman on Cape Leveque. This is definitely one of the prettiest spots in Australia.
We stayed in one of the beach shelter right next to the swim beach on the east side of the cape. We spend our day with relaxing, swimming and watching the sun set.

As I’ve already once travelled along the Gibb River Road I was quite interested to see what has changed. We started in Wyndham and followed the Karunjie Track to the Pentecost Crossing. This is definitely one of the prettiest stretches of track we have followed so far.
Along the way we stopped at Manning Gorge where we enjoyed some refreshing swimming and some nice sunsets. We also encountered some bushfires.
In Windjana Gorge we enjoyed an interesting spectacle. All of a sudden all the flying foxes flew out of there trees because they got hunted by a big eagle. Hundreds of flying foxes were flying around the gorge in panic.
On our arrival in Broome we enjoyed the vibrant colour of the water and the pretty sunsets on cable beach.

On our way from Katherine to Kununurra we stopped into Keep River National Park. During our stay we enjoyed a few nice walk and a variety of Aboriginal rock art.
