27. July 2009 Gibb River Road
4 Comments Published in Trips by MarianneTo explore the Kimberley we first travelled along Leopold Downs Road where we visited Tunnel Creek and Windjana Gorge. Just at the turn off onto Gibb River Road at Lennard River we discovered a lovely little snack stop where we had morning tea. Along Gibb River Road we visited quite a few different gorges. Most of them actually carried water and were quite spectacular. At Bell Gorge Margrit and Anton even went for a swim in the refreshing water. We got again the opportunity to do bush camping along the way. One of the nights we set up camp in a very pretty setting right next to the Hann River. As there is water everywhere in the Kimberly we had to cross quite a few smaller and larger rivers.
Hallo zäme! total schön, diese Bilder. Da komme ich in Ferienstimmung. Ich freue mich schon, euch bald zu sehen. Wünsche noch schöne Tage!
Simon – I love your new look…;-)) !!
Hmmmm, Devonian reef…
)
(pic of Windjana gorge) Did you see the fossils in the reef?
When we crossed the Pentecost river in 2007 the water would have filled the entire foreground of that photo. The pics of Galvins Gorge bring back some nice memories – it was actually one of our favourite gorges of our trip, although swimming at Bell Gorge was pretty special too.
Hope you are are not all ‘gorged out’!
Hi guys,
I’ve been following your blog with increasing amounts of envy! It looks amazing. Sandra and I are heading off in our humble campervan for a month in September, but we have already decided to upgrade to a 4WD version next year for a longer trip. Will have to catch up when you are back and download some knowledge from you seasoned trekkers!
And Simon, you’re beginning to look like a wild bush man…;)
