2. May 2009 Wombeyan Caves to Jenolan Caves

We went for another trip out of the book  ‘4WD Treks close to Sydney’ by Craig Lewis and Cathy Savage. This trip goes through the Blue Mountains, starting at Wombeyan Caves where we first went for an amazing self-guided tour through the Fig Tree Cave. After that we made our way to Yerranderie, a privately owned silver mining ghost town, before heading to Mount Werong camping area to set up camp for the night. It was a very cold night and in the morning everything was covered in frost. Even the tents had little ice crystals on the inside! The second day involved a lot of great, but not too difficult, 4-wheel-driving through the mountains. At Kanangra Wall and Govetts Leap we had some stunning views of the Blue Mountains before heading home.
